ILO Conventions

The 8 basic conventions of the ILO are taken into account as criteria for socially responsible production (Act of 27e February 2002). These conventions can be seen as a framework to guarantee social responsibility.

The 8 conventions contain especially the following aspects

-          freedom of association C. n°87
-          the right to organize and collective bargaining C. n°98
-          abolition of forced labour C. n°29 et 105
-          ban on discrimination and guarantee of equal remuneration C. n°100 en 111
-          minimum age of child labour C. n°138
-          ban on worst forms of child labour C. n°182

The "ILO declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work" states that the member states have the duty to respect these principles, regardless of whether they have ratified these conventions or not. Enterprises should take care that their activities not violate these principles.

For sensitive product groups this guide refers explicitly to these ILO-conventions.
